About the Viola Richards Foundation

The Viola Richards Foundation was formed to join the charge against Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Our goal is to raise awareness in underserved communities across the world, providing education, support, and resources to families affected by this devastating condition.

Our Mission

At the Viola Richards Foundation, we believe that no family should face Alzheimer’s disease alone. Our mission is to empower caregivers, educate communities, and advocate for those living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. We are dedicated to bridging the gap in Alzheimer’s awareness and support, particularly in communities that have historically been underserved.

Why We Exist

Alzheimer’s disease affects more than 6 million Americans and millions more worldwide. It is the most common cause of dementia, accounting for 60-80% of all dementia cases. Behind every diagnosis is a family navigating an uncertain and often overwhelming journey. The Viola Richards Foundation was born from a deeply personal experience with this disease and a determination to make a difference.

We understand the emotional, physical, and financial toll that Alzheimer’s takes on families. That is why we are committed to providing practical resources, compassionate support, and evidence-based information to help families cope with every stage of the disease.

What We Do

Our work focuses on several key areas:

Education and Awareness

We create and share educational content about Alzheimer’s disease, including articles, guides, and resources that help families understand the disease, recognize early warning signs, and learn effective caregiving strategies. Our blog features regularly updated articles with practical tips for coping with Alzheimer’s in the family.

Community Outreach

We organize events, workshops, and support groups that bring together caregivers, healthcare professionals, and community members. These gatherings provide a safe space for sharing experiences, learning from experts, and building a supportive network.

Caregiver Support

Caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s can be isolating and exhausting. We provide resources specifically designed for caregivers, including self-care guides, stress management techniques, and connections to local support services. We believe that taking care of the caregiver is essential to providing the best possible care for the patient.

Advocacy

We advocate for increased funding for Alzheimer’s research, improved access to healthcare services, and policies that support families affected by dementia. We work to ensure that the voices of patients and caregivers are heard at every level of decision-making.

Our Values

  • Compassion: We approach every interaction with empathy and understanding, recognizing the unique challenges each family faces.
  • Education: We believe that knowledge is power, and we are committed to providing accurate, up-to-date information about Alzheimer’s disease.
  • Inclusivity: We are dedicated to reaching all communities, especially those that have been historically underserved in Alzheimer’s education and support.
  • Hope: While Alzheimer’s is a challenging diagnosis, we believe in the power of community, research, and compassionate care to improve quality of life.
  • Integrity: We operate with transparency and accountability in everything we do.
